Fits

1988 to 1995 TBI V8 only, two-piece seal design. The 1996 to 1998 Vortec trucks use a different one-piece seal, see the Vortec rear crank seal listing instead.

Why it matters

A leaking rear main seal is a classic high-mileage issue on these small block V8s. Heat cycling accelerates the hardening and shrinkage that leads to it, and the leak shows up as oil at the back of the engine and on the bellhousing, often mistaken for a transmission leak at first.
