Why Our Parts Are Different

Finding the right part for any car, and in particular your classic isn't like ordering a filter for a modern car. The vehicles in which we specialise GM C/K 1055 (GMT400), Mercedes SL R107, or a classic Land Rover Defender are old enough that the supply chain has fragmented what's listed as compatible often isn't, counterfeit or low quality parts circulate freely, and the wrong choice can set a restoration back or simply stop your from using your classic as a daily ride .

We started Obscure Parts because we got tired of that problem ourselves. We drive these cars, daily. The store was created because we found it very challenging to find the parts for our cars. 

Every part in our catalogue has been selected for a specific vehicle, a specific engine, and in many cases a specific production year. The part numbers you see are genuine part numbers that we researched, they're the OEM or OEM-equivalent references we use to verify fitment before a product goes live.

We'd rather lose a sale than send you the wrong part.

If you're not certain something is right for your vehicle, send us your VIN before you order. We'll check it. That's not a chatbot it's us, checking that the part fits and because we repaired and restored our own vehicles, we know these platforms.

What we sell and why

• GMT400 (1988–1998): Chevrolet and GMC C/K Series, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, one of the most capable platforms ever built, and one of the most neglected by the modern parts industry. We have two 1993 Blazers - believe us, finding parts for this rare model, which was only available for 3 years is probably why we had the idea to start this site.  
• Mercedes-Benz SL R107 (1971–1989): Perhaps, not as pretty as the early SL's and a whole lot prettier than the next, the classic looks make this a  roadster built to last decades. We have one of these as well. What we found is that while there are a lot of suppliers of parts, finding high quality for this model is more difficult. 
• Land Rover Defender 90/110: Iconic, capable, and increasingly difficult to source correctly for.

We're based in the UAE and ship within the GCC. We are not looking to compete for sales in other parts of the world, because, to be honest, there are some excellent companies already operating there. In our region, however, finding the parts means either chancing your arm in the scrapyards of Sharjah, Ajman or Riyadh or relying on stores that are not open about how they do business.

Lead times vary because do not stock all the parts all the time, but we'll always tell you honestly rather than promise what we can't deliver.
