Fits

1996 to 1998 Vortec only. The earlier TBI engines use a different gasket set, so check your engine code before ordering. This is the lower gasket only, the upper intake plenum uses a separate seal kit, listed separately.

Why it matters

Coolant seepage at the lower intake gasket is a well known, well documented weak point on Vortec small blocks, caused by the original plastic gasket material breaking down under heat cycling. The leak often shows up first as a sweet smell or slow coolant loss before anything more obvious. Constant AC use and high under-hood temperatures here don't help.
