AC Receiver-Drier — Mercedes-Benz R107 SL
The receiver-drier filters moisture and debris from the refrigerant circuit. A saturated or contaminated drier is a common cause of poor cooling and accelerated compressor wear — and on a car this age in UAE conditions, an old drier should be considered a consumable.
Replace the receiver-drier any time the AC system is opened. This is non-negotiable. After an internal compressor failure in particular, a new drier is essential — reusing the old one after compressor debris has passed through it will contaminate and shorten the life of the new compressor.
