AC Compressor, Sanden 507/508 Style — Land Rover Defender V8
The compressor is the heart of the AC system. When it fails internally, the debris it sheds contaminates the condenser, both AC lines, and the evaporator — and a replacement compressor fitted into a contaminated system will very likely fail again within weeks.
If your compressor has failed internally, replace it together with the receiver-drier and TXV expansion valve as a set. Flush the condenser and both lines with dedicated AC flush solvent before fitting anything new. See the Defender V8 AC Repair & Service Guide for the full sequence.
The Sanden SD507/SD508 is the standard compressor fitment for the Defender V8 across the 1984–2000 classic shape run. Britpart and equivalent trusted suppliers are the benchmark for this platform — well-proven, widely fitted, and the failure rates are known and acceptable. Cheap alternatives are not recommended on a system that operates under sustained high load in UAE summer heat.
