AC Auxiliary Fan Motor — Mercedes-Benz R107 SL
The R107's condenser relies on two sources of airflow: ram air at speed and an electric auxiliary fan at low speed and idle. When the auxiliary fan fails, the system cools adequately at motorway speed but drops off badly — or fails completely — in slow traffic or at a standstill.
In UAE conditions, where urban driving in summer can mean extended idle periods in 45°C heat, a failed auxiliary fan makes the AC system effectively non-functional for the majority of city use.
